The presence of our contingent in Somalia was from December 1992 until March 1994 and can be divided into four different periods:

1) At the beginning it was called RESTORE HOPE

2) Then came IBIS I with the complete landing of Folgore’s Brigade

 3) It became IBIS II when Folgore was replaced by Legnano (September 1993 – March 1994)

4) finally, it was transformed into UNITED SHIELD in March 1994, while the 25th Naval Group provided protection during the return from Somalia.
