In some lagers (Buchenwald, Mauthausen) the prisoners were able to free themselves. In other camps they were liberated by russian forces (Auschwitz) or the U.S.A. forces (Dachau). |

On April 1, 1945 the General George S. Patton visited the K.L. Buchenwald where the rebellion of prisoners resulted in their self liberation.
