The
second
battalion
sharpshooter
"Governolo"
was
the
first
Italian
armed
contingent
of
our
Army
which
operated
outside
the
Italian
borders
after
the
second
world
war.
It
was
located
in
Bayrut
from
the
26th
of
August
to
the
12th
September
1982
and
from
the
following
27th
September
till
to
the
3rd
April
1984.
On
the
18th
September
1999
a
special
cancellation
of
Italian
HQ
commemorated
the
15th
anniversary
of
the
mission.
