Some Italian Army’s Observers operate within the concerning mission of the European Union together with other countries.

The Italian contingent, which is part of the European Community Monitor Mission, uses three helicopters (AB205 and AB206) strictly painted in white colour, as far as the colour of the soldiers’ and officers’ uniforms.

On January 7, 1992, one AB205 helicopter was hit by a Yugoslavian MIG, causing the death of the five members of the crew; four of them were fellow countrymen.
