AFGHANISTAN  2002 - TODAY

I.S.A.F = INTERNATIONAL SECURITY ASSISTANCE FORCE

 

 

On the first days of  January 2002 the Colonel  Giorgio Battisti left to Kabul, capital of Afghanistan, leading the Italian peace keeping forces. The mission is to maintain peace, and to avoid that Talibans could hit again the Afghan people. In the first days of their arrival, Italian forces  took care of  the coming back of the former king Zahir Shah. 

 

The troops are:

 

- 1 armoured regiment

- 1 company of  Carabinieri Tuscania

-1 engineeer company  

-1 company NBC

-1 logistic company

-1 unit  BOE.

 

 

The date of the end of the mission is under revision .
