Under the command of Rear-Admiral Franco D’Agostino, the frigates “Perseo” and “Sagittario” took part to the operation SHARP GUARD, enforcing the embargo decreed by the UN against Serbia and Montenegro (ex Yugoslavia).

SHARP GUARD comes from the unification of the naval forces of NATO (Maritime Guard) and UEO (Sharp Fence) that were subject to Italian Operational Command (Comnavsouth).

In all 240 ships participated to the operation.

Because the operation was developed in Italy, mail doesn’t show any special postal cancellation.
